In this blog I would like to tell you how many things were not told or shown to us in the Star Wars films. The films lack scenes of major battles for cities, planets and the entire galaxy, and there is no feeling of war as such, with the exception of Rogue One. To get a feel for the scale of all the events, I offer you three games set in the universe of a galaxy far, far away.

Star wars. Republic Commando

In this game we have to take on the role of a clone of KR-01/138, then Delta 38 or simply Boss. We are not an ordinary clone, we are an elite soldier of the delta division. The most difficult missions of the Clone Wars fall to our lot. We will not fight for the Republic alone. Ordinary clone soldiers, the Wookiee army under the command of Chief Tarfful, and clones of our squad, the same elite fighters, will fight and die with us. Our squad is not just dummies extras, but rather ninja turtles from a world far, far away, each of them has their own character, specialization, and their armor is painted in characteristic colors.

Delta 62 (Michelangelo) – demolition specialist, has a yellow identification mark. Your main joker is a mischief maker. Constantly clogs up the channel with his conversations on topics distracted from the task.

Delta 40 (Donatello) – your squad’s botanist. He is responsible for hacking terminals and his suit is covered in green stripes. Throughout the entire storyline, he asks you to shut up sixty-two.

Delta 07 (Raphael) is the most furious fighter, stands in the vanguard and always gets into trouble. Guess what color his protective suit is painted??

During the story campaign, we will take https://bettabetscasino.co.uk/games/ part in the battles for Geonosis: we will eliminate the Geonosian commander San Fak, carry out a series of sabotage at the droid factory and their spaceship, investigate the disappearance of a Republican spaceship and recapture it from the Trandoshan mercenaries, and on the homeland of the Wookiees – the planet Kashyyyk, rescue the captured leader Tarfful and defend the city of Kachiro from the advance of separatist troops. Although our actions have resonance in the clone wars, they are still only drops in the Galactic War.

We will have to destroy droids of different sizes and degrees of danger, from type B2 garbage to a heavy spider droid and bodyguards of General Grievous, Trandoshan mercenaries armed with shotguns, submachine guns, and elite Trandoshans with heavy miniguns and Geonasian insects.

Everything that I wrote above concerned the fighters of the elite unit, each of whom was an individual. But how did things go for ordinary soldiers?? The journal of the 501st Legion will tell us about this, before and after Order 66 came into force.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2005).

In this game we try on the skin of ordinary warriors. We have no name (except for the nickname invented for multiplayer), we have no voice, we only make dying screams, we have no character, we don’t need one. We are cannon fodder fulfilling our purpose – follow orders or die.

They fight for each side of the conflict – attack aircraft, demolitions, snipers, engineers, who have the same equipment for all classes: attack aircraft – a blaster rifle and grenades, demolition officer – a heavy grenade launcher and mines, a sniper, (oh God, you all know it yourself) a sniper rifle and a stationary turret, and the sapper owns a shotgun, a gas burner for repairing equipment, a set of first aid kits and ammunition, and local analogue C4. The commander class, depending on the side of the conflict, has the ability to increase/decrease damage or restore/damage health. Level 6 classes are the most different from the rest. For clones and empire fighters, this class uses a jetpack to quickly move around the map, the first wields a light grenade launcher, and the second wields a shock cannon. The separatists have a kolobok droid, uses twin blasters and has a personal shield, and the rebel fighters have Wookiees who use crossbows and thermal bombs, causing great damage to enemy equipment.

The company of this game shows the battles that took place behind the scenes of all the films: the Battle of Majetto, the battle of Felucia, the full-scale battle on Kashyyyk, the Battle of Utapau, the extermination of the Jedi Order on Coruscant, the siege of Naboo, the destruction of the remaining separatist forces on Mustafar, the suppression of the uprising on Kamino, the boarding of the corvette Tantive 4 (the beginning of the 4th episode of Star Wars). Galloping across Europe, we took part in the revival of the new Galactic Empire and the beginning of the civil war, killed and destroyed opponents, watched the death of our fellow party members (not all that dramatic, but not about that now), but still somehow the galactic scale of the war is missing. The next game comes to our aid.

Star wars: Empire at war. Forces of corruption.

To feel the scale of the world shrouded in fire, we will have to put the blaster aside, sit in a comfortable chair and take command of the entire army of the Empire and suppress the uprising, with the forces of resistance to overthrow the dictatorship of the emperor, or lead a pirate syndicate, and do the usual pirate business – intimidate, rob and kill.

Events are divided into two stages. The first is the construction of buildings for recruiting and improving units, reconnaissance and instant sabotage, redeployment of existing units, corruption of enemy systems. In galactic map mode, you need to monitor the situation on all planets, study new technologies, strengthen garrisons, and be always ready to strike on the border planets.

The second is space or ground battles with pre-hired troops. We will have to command not only the heroes of the cinematic universe, but also battalions of soldiers and fighter flights, tank batteries and space cruisers, artillery installations and long-range ships launching long-range proton missiles.

In order to capture the planet, you first need to break through the space defenses and then land on the planet and destroy the enemy garrison. Well, or not to land, but simply destroy the planet with the Death Star. Each planet has its own weather modifiers – often negative, and local residents can either be on your side or show sympathy for the enemy and take his side. To win a local battle, it will not be possible to mindlessly select all the units under your control and send them to restore order in the system. For example: the AT-AT walker of the Empire is effective for destroying enemy equipment, but is vulnerable to gliders and rocket launchers.

And that’s not all.

I told you about only three games that I know myself, and which I managed to play as a child, from the Star Wars universe, narrowing and expanding the scale of the fire that engulfed the galaxy. This is just a speck of Star Wars lore. There are cartoons, comics, books and TV series that tell us about other heroes and scoundrels, imperials and rebels, pirates and civilians participating in local, sometimes minor, conflicts and skirmishes on the outskirts of the galaxy, showing the drama of military operations.
